A couple of weeks ago, I had the sudden urge to decorate our front porch in fall flowers and Halloween decor. For those that know me, I am by no means a planner. When I come up with an idea, I just do it right then and there. SO the day I thought of this idea, I drove my impetuous little self to home depot, and went to the extreme. I hope everyone has a great Fall and enjoys their Halloween week!!!! Can. Not. Wait. to share my kids Halloween costumes with you!! I was supposed to shoot them in their costumes tonight, but we had a slight hiccup in weather, and are stuck inside all day due to another Hurricane here in Florida! SO, keep a look out for their costume shoot ****hopefully*** prior to halloween!!!! I know I may be biased, but their costumes are absolutely REDICULOUS!!!! Hi Brooke! Your photos are fantastic and your children are just gorgeous! I love that you’re posting the camera and lens used, as well as your settings. Hate to ask this, but are you using actions to edit? If so, would it be possible to list those as well? Us photogs… always wanting more!

Thank you so much for your sweet compliments! I actually hand edit from beginning to end, and then use one, sometimes two actions for toning only, and these are always from the Paint the Moon’s Newest action set, Luminosity, the “Artisan” collection. In these, I used a hint of peach frost, and a touch of skinny jeans, two of my fav! I will try and write the actions I used as well, to all my posts, but I rarely change it up! Sometimes I don’t run any actions at all. A lot of my toning is done by hand!!

Or Aunt Kerry. Love your work, Brooke! It was such a pleasure photographing 22 month old Miss Sammie. She was like a little doll and I just wanted to take her home!!! Her look she gave me was just piercing, with those big blue eyes, and curly golden curls. Oh, and can we say her Mama has some major style in children clothing!!! Loved meeting you Sammie!!!!

We are both such day dreamers, sometimes, to the point we are in suchanother world. I may be one of the only one who understands this side of her. I think we both just think a lot. And dream, A LOT. Yes, being a day dreamer can be a huge hinder on many important things in life. However, being a daydreamer plays very important roles in our lives as well. One being, our constant flair and need for creativeness. Both of these images were shot using a Nikon D800, 50mm 1.4 Lens, shot at 1.4. I used some direct window light and had a friend holding up a white reflector on my subject’s left side of the face. (Camera Right).

I spent the entire day with my children picking out flowers, planting them, and bringing our front porch to life! You can’t see it in these pictures, but we also hung little tiny ghosts in all our surrounding porch trees. It is just so darn cute. The best part about it, is we had fun as a family!!!! Maren and Zane LOVE the flowers!! Then Daddy met us later that evening at our local pumpkin patch and helped us pick out the perfect pumpkins for our porch. I let the kids pick the one’s that they could carry out themselves. It was such a great day!!! It only took me two weeks later to get these cute shots of my kids in front of our home. These images will be so special to our family for years to come, as this is home is not the home we will be in forever. We are currently building a custom home, and we are renting this beautiful home from a wonderful family. It has been a home to us, where we have made some amazing special memories. Zane has basically grown up here. I can’t wait to cherish these images and memories forever, and remember this place of love, and where we continued to grow our family memories. It is for sure a home that will be in our hearts forever. So, I am so glad I have these special images to take with me. <3
