Shooting For Passion
Art Washes From the Soul, the Dust of Everyday Life."
~Pablo Picasso
One of my very biggest turn offs, is when my passion becomes an obligation. What does this mean? It means that I hate when my art, my passion, my hobby, becomes something that HAS to get done, with a deadline, and with high expectations on numerous levels. I learned this ten years ago, when I was a student at an art magnet high school. It was probably the best (and ONLY) schooling I have EVER received in the arts, and I was so fortunate to have been accepted there. Dreyfoos School of the Arts took my art, in all different mediums (painting, drawing, sculpture and of course photography) to an entire different level. (Ill share my old work with you all sometime soon if I can dig it up out of boxes)!! At the same time, my passion, my love for drawing, painting, photography, and being creative, came with deadlines, homework assignments, end of the year juries, daily critiques, and high EXPECTATIONS and a lot of OBLIGATION! This is the very reason I did not continue my art education in college, but OH how I wish I did, looking back!!!
So what is the point of this blog post?!?! These are images that I shot just for fun, without expectation, and without obligation of producing a certain amount of captures, poses, outfit changes, blah blah blah...you get the point! I just shoot when I feel like clicking, when I see or feel the moment. Then, afterwards, I edit, if, when and what, I want to ;) This I call editing for pure fun! This is why you may see me shooting for fun, more often, than I shoot clients!! YES I LOVE my clients, I love them so much, that I want to SPOIL them. I want to MAKE SURE that every inch of my heart and soul goes into capturing them perfectly, from the planning, to the actual session, to the many many hours I spend post processing. How do I do this for my clients?!? I DONT overbook!! Actually I UNDER book. I only book (gasp) 1-3 sessions a month, and 3 is pushing it for me! (minus the few occasions that newborns come early and I end up with a four newborn month like I did during this month)! I like to book a client and know that their session is the ONLY session I have to focus on for that week or two, or even month for that matter!! This way, the client knows they are getting 100% of ME-my passion, love, creativeness, perceptions and expression, heart and soul. I can actually ENJOY myself, and not have to stress over deadlines, and planning for constant upcoming photo shoots, and worrying about multiple orders at once! I can also enjoy my FAMILY, and spend more time capturing my children's every day moments. Oh, and did I mention, I can ENJOY my clients as well ;) I LOVE getting to know my clients, which better allows me to capture their personalities that much better. My art is very personal to me and I take it very seriously. I like to consider myself very exclusive, and a part time photographer. My full time job is being a MOMMY to two amazing children. SO, when you are my client, know that you are not only paying for my "time and talent", and end results. You are paying for my heart and soul and love and attention, to go into you and your experience with Brooke Logue Photography!
