What If The Weather Affects Our Family Photoshoot
Weather Or Not We Cancel
You’ve booked your family photo shoot in sunny South Florida, and, well, its the day of your shoot, and it isn’t so sunny!! Weather is a real thing here in South Florida. It can change on a dime, and then change back. It could rain all day, just for the sun to peak itself through the clouds to say hello, an hour before sunset. You just never know. You’ve done a lot of work planning for this photo shoot, planning everyone’s outfits, and making your husband leave work early. Or maybe you are in town for a short period, and have limited back up days to reschedule. So the number one question I get is, “What if it rains?” In this blog post, I will go over my weather protocol and give some suggestions so that you can have peace of mind when planning your photo session with me!
What Happens If The Forecast Says Rain On The Day Of Our Photoshoot
Whether its the night before a morning shoot, or the morning of the day of your sunset shoot, I’ll be keeping a close eye on the forecast. As we all know, the forecast doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. I use it as a guide. If you have a sunrise session, I usually call it the night before, as there is no reason for everyone to be woken up early just to cancel. Plus, it will typically be too dark outside to get a good sense of the weather, unless its actually raining. If it is a golden hour session, I suggest that we don’t make any decisions until it gets closer to your shoot. If you are flexible, we will play it by ear, and as it gets closer to your shoot time, we will see where the weather stands and make a decision together.
What Do We Do If The Weather Is So Bad, We Can’t Shoot
Mini Sessions: If you’ve booked a mini session, I will already have a backup date in the calendar. If you can’t make the backup date, I will automatically refund your session.
Full Sessions: If you have a full session booked, and it’s just very overcast, but no rain, and you are able, I will sometimes move your session an hour or two earlier so that we have more light. If that’s not possible, or it doesn’t look like the rain is going to stop, we will schedule to a new date, free of charge.
Traveling Client’s: If you are a client from out of town, please note that I will always schedule a back up shoot day with you when you book your session. This will give you peace of mind in case we need to reschedule due to the weather.
