How To Style Your Family Photo Session

Do you ever wonder how some of the family photos you see on your instagram feed seem so perfectly styled, like they are straight out of a magazine!? Styling and coordinating clothing for more than one person can be quite an overwhelming aspect of having your family photos taken! Fear not!! The right photographer will assist you in styling your photo session, at no extra charge!

How Do We Begin?

Simple!! First I start by asking you some questions about your style, so that I can get a feel of what threads you may or may not love, along with favorite color pallets. Then we determine who to start with. I usually like to start with the Mother’s outfit, or the children, and then feed off of those first choices to coordinate the rest. From here, I will start pulling some clothing ideas from online, and send you links or screen shots. You will then tell me what you like, what you don’t like, which will give me a better idea of where to go from there! Sometimes, my client will do the same, and go online and start searching for threads that they like, and send them to me. I will then let you know whether they will show up good in photographs, at the location we have chosen.

How Do We Finalize The Style?!

Once we have chosen a few that clothing options that you like, I will start a photo grid, or mood board, so that we can see them next to each other. I will rearrange this mood board, many times, until we find what we like, together! Just make sure you order your clothing in enough time to arrive for our session!
