Picking Your Location For South Florida Family Photos

Let’s Explore Location Options

One of the first questions that I recieve when booking a photoshoot is “Where should we shoot?” I have a variety of outdoor locations that I love and have been shooting at for years, and I can help you pick the location that best fits your family! I would love to share with you my top locations that I love shooting at, along with the pros and cons of each! This should help better prepare you on what to expect for your family!

Top Locations That I LOVE Shooting At

To start, this location that you see on this blog post is not only special to me, its magical! This is a quiet, tucked away equestrian property where we keep our horses at. This property has so many beautiful little nooks, and the light is to die for!! Especially during the winter! So If you love these photos, keep this equestrian property in mind!

Next, I love the beach. Of course its cliche for us South Florida folks, but some of my best artwork has been shot at the beach, sunset or sunrise. BEACH SUNSET. BEACH SUNRISE

Another fun location is the rooftop at Delray Beach Marketplace. It’s chic and clean, lots of white and super edgy! The best part? You can see the sky and clouds in your photos, and the sunset is epic! ROOFTOP (Coming Soon)

If you love nature, then you will love this next one! Sea Crest Natural Scrub Area is located in East Boynton Beach, and is so pretty. The sun sneaks in through the forage and creates such beautiful green and brown tones for a background. There are several nature scrubs all over South Florida, so if this location isn’t close, I can definitely find one similar close to you! Nature Scrub

Do you live in Miami or want to go on an adventure for your photo shoot?? Do you want to step outside of the box, with a POP of color and some extra spunk? This location will definitely be having your friends and family talking!! The Miami Design Parking Garage will give you all the feels!! Check it out here: MIAMI DESIGN ROOFTOP

Next up is one of my absolute favorites. If you live south of west palm beach, it is WORTH the drive to Jupiter!! Come shoot with me at Jonathan Dickinson State Park. This location is the closest to desert vibes that you will ever see in South Florida. I can’t even begin to explain it, so check it out here: JD STATE PARK. JD STATE PARK

The Hawaii Beach is what I call this next beach. This beach isn’t just a beach, so it is a location on it’s own. Its a beach in South Florida, that has a cliff like setting behind the sand with tons of palm trees towering behind you. It literally feels like Hawaii! It’s EPIC. HAWAII BEACH

These are my favorite locations to shoot at! There are many other locations out there, just tell me your vibes and I will find you the place that I think will tell your story the best!

Pro’s and Cons of Each Of These Locations

Equestrian Property:

Pro: It’s a unique location that other photographers don’t know about.

Con: I need to get permission to shoot here, and it’s super buggy!

The Beach Sunrise:

Pro: watching the sunrise is absolutely breathtaking, and a memory your family will always have together.

Con: It’s SOOO early! You have to pay for parking.

The Beach Sunset:

Pro: If the weather is nice, you will get beautiful blue skies and maybe even some pink clouds.

Con: It could be windy, especially during the fall/winter months. You have to pay for parking.

The Delray Marketplace Rooftop:

Pro: We will most likely be the only people up there! Super private! Kids can run around in a safe environment and kids usually LOVE it up there.

Con: Could be windy. You have to pay for parking.

The Seacrest Nature Scrub:

Pro: The kids enjoy going on turtle hunts to try and find a turtle (They are in there!) The kids can run around in a safe environment.

Con: Could have mosquitos, depending on the time of year, so bring bug repellant! If overcast, we will need to move our session an hour to about an hour and a half earlier, to get better light due to the trees covering most of the sky.

MIAMI DESIGN GARAGE ROOFTOP:

Pro: It’s fun for the kids to run around on a bunch of colors in an empty parking lot. There are few people up there, sometimes it’s just us. Unique location.

Con: Long drive unless you live in Miami (about an hour from Delray Beach ). The risk of weather not being good, and driving so far.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park:

Pro: It’s a unique location, your photos will definitely stand out. Desert vibes.

Con: Long drive (about an hour from Delray Beach). STICKERS- both kinds, the ones that attach to your shoes and pants, that HURT and are spikey, and also the little flat stickers that are a pain to pick off your clothing! Also, random small cactus on the ground. It’s not a good idea for kids to run around here. If you have really little ones, that are walkers, I suggest keeping them very close.

Hawaii Beach:

Pro: It’s a very unique and beautiful beach for South Florida. Typically there are few to no people on this beach.

Con: It’s a little bit of a hike to get there (about five minutes of walking) and that is hard when there are multiple little kids and bags to carry.
